About the role
We do not only build client sites, we host them. LiveCloudHost plans, private servers, domain registration and management, mailboxes and custom email routing — which means when a client’s site is down, their email is bouncing or their domain is about to expire, it is our problem and there is nobody else to escalate to. As Hosting and Domains Support Technician you keep that infrastructure boring, and you are the person who gets a site back up.
What you’ll do
- Provision and maintain hosting accounts, databases, SSL certificates and staging environments, and keep WordPress cores, themes and plugins current across the estate without breaking live sites.
- Own DNS: registrations, renewals, transfers, nameservers, and the A, CNAME, MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records that decide whether a client’s mail is delivered or silently rejected.
- Set up and troubleshoot business mailboxes, forwarding and catch-alls, and diagnose deliverability problems properly rather than by changing settings until something works.
- Respond to outages: find out what actually broke, restore from backup when that is the answer, and tell the client what happened in language they can repeat to their own customers.
- Handle backups and basic hardening, and verify a restore actually restores. An untested backup is a rumour.
What we’re looking for
- Two or more years running Linux web hosting in production — LAMP or LEMP, a control panel, and real DNS and mail experience.
- Command-line comfort: shell, SSH, logs, permissions, and enough WP-CLI to work on a WordPress site without the admin UI.
- Genuine DNS and email-authentication knowledge. This is the single most common source of client emergencies and the one most often fixed by guesswork.
- The discipline to take a backup before touching anything, and to change one thing at a time on a live site.
Schedule
Part-time, roughly 12–20 hours a week, with some flexibility for the occasional out-of-hours outage. Hybrid: mostly remote, with on-site time at our Orlando office at Pipeline Workspaces, 20 North Orange Avenue.
About this posting
This is an open, evergreen posting. We keep it up whether or not there is a seat free this month, because the alternative — starting a search the week we need somebody — is how agencies end up hiring whoever is available instead of whoever is right. There is no deadline on it and no urgency to manufacture. If you are good at this, apply, and we will talk; if the fit is there and the work is not yet, we will tell you that honestly and keep your application on file.
Every application comes to us through this page. We do not post on Indeed or any other job board, and nobody at NeedAWebNow will ever ask you to pay for anything as part of applying.
