About the role
Spanish is not an add-on here. Roughly half of our work serves US Hispanic markets or clients in Latin America, and we sell website localisation, Spanish SEO, Spanish social management and ebook translation as their own services. The standard we hold ourselves to is that a Spanish page should read as though it was written in Spanish — which machine translation does not achieve and a bilingual generalist in a hurry does not either. As Translator and Localization Specialist you are the person who makes that true.
What you’ll do
- Localise client websites into Spanish — not sentence-by-sentence translation, but copy that works for the market, including offers, calls to action and the examples a reader will recognise.
- Localise campaign material in both directions: ads, emails, social captions, landing pages, and the audio and video scripts our producers work from.
- Translate and proofread long-form work, including the ebooks and guides we produce and publish for clients.
- Review and repair machine-translated and AI-translated drafts, which is where most of this work starts, and flag the ones that have to be rewritten rather than fixed.
- Keep terminology and register consistent per client across every channel, and decide which regional variety a given client should sound like rather than defaulting to a neutral nobody speaks.
What we’re looking for
- Native or near-native Spanish and excellent English, with professional translation experience you can show — marketing and commercial copy, not only literary work.
- Judgement about regional variety. A Miami audience, a Mexican audience and a Colombian audience are not interchangeable, and knowing that is most of the job.
- Working knowledge of SEO basics, so a localised page can rank in Spanish rather than only read well.
- Comfort editing directly in WordPress rather than returning a document for somebody else to paste in.
Schedule
Contract, part-time — roughly 10–20 hours a week, driven by project volume. Mostly remote, with occasional on-site time at our Miami office at Pipeline Workspaces, 8400 NW 36th Street in Doral.
About this posting
This is an open, evergreen posting. We keep it up whether or not there is a seat free this month, because the alternative — starting a search the week we need somebody — is how agencies end up hiring whoever is available instead of whoever is right. There is no deadline on it and no urgency to manufacture. If you are good at this, apply, and we will talk; if the fit is there and the work is not yet, we will tell you that honestly and keep your application on file.
Every application comes to us through this page. We do not post on Indeed or any other job board, and nobody at NeedAWebNow will ever ask you to pay for anything as part of applying.
